📚 Our Homeschool Semester is Back in Session
It feels like just yesterday we were packing up our DVDs and sending them back to Abeka… and now here we are again back in the swing of a brand-new homeschool semester. If you’re a homeschool mom like me, you know that start-of-semester feeling: part excitement, part “how are we already here again?
A Fresh Start with Four Boys
As many of you know, I’m a mom of four boys. Homeschooling them has been such a blessing, although it comes with its fair share of challenges. It takes discipline, consistency, and plenty of sacrifice, but the rewards of watching them learn and grow at home outweigh it all.
Each semester brings its own rhythm and a chance to make learning fun and memorable. One of the ways we keep things exciting is by choosing a theme for the semester.
Last semester, the boys voted for a space theme, our walls were decorated with planets, rockets, and stars. This time around, their decision was inspired by our family trip to LEGOLAND. Without hesitation, they shouted: “LEGO theme!”
From Space to LEGO
So, down came the planets and stars, and up went the colorful LEGO décor. It doesn’t take much, just a few fun touches to transform their learning area into a place they’re excited to come to every day. For my boys, having a theme keeps things fresh and gives them something to look forward to throughout the semester.
Creating Joy in the Everyday
As homeschool moms, it’s easy to get caught up in lesson plans, schedules, and the never-ending “to-do list.” But I’ve found that simple things like letting your kids have a say in their homeschool theme add joy and ownership to the journey.
I’d love to hear from you: Do you choose a theme for your homeschool? If so, what’s been your kids’ favorite?
Keeping Things Organized
This year, I invested in a lot of items from IKEA to help create a more functional and organized learning space. I’ll also be sharing a link to some of my favorite Amazon finds, ← click here or here → Homeschool Items to check out some of the items I purchased for the semester that have helped keep our homeschool area tidy and our days running as smoothly as possible. Linked below is also my YouTube video on all things homeschool. It’s worth watching. Please don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe to my channel. I also want to mention the magnetic soilless planter I picked up from Trader Joe’s. It’s been such a fun little addition, no soil needed, and all it takes is a light misting of the leaves once a week! 🌱
Here’s to another semester full of growth, learning, and plenty of LEGO building in between lessons. 🤍
